What Poros costs
How expensive is Poros?
We cannot answer this from receipts — our Poros summer was July 2013, before this site’s price log existed — and this page will not pretend otherwise. A thirteen-year-old recollection is exactly the kind of number we refuse to publish. The Greece-wide record lives on the what-Greece-costs page, every figure dated and located; Poros gets its own entries the next time we are on the island with the log running.
This page carries no figures, and the absence is the content rather than a gap in it.
Our Poros summer was July 2013. This site's price log began in 2025, which means any number we put here would come from thirteen-year-old memory instead of from a document — and a thirteen-year-old recollection of what a dinner cost is precisely the kind of figure The Greek Atlas exists to refuse. It would also be the easiest thing on this site to write. Nobody would check it, it would read as authoritative, and it would be worth nothing.
The standard on every other cost page here is a date and a place on every price, transcribed from a printed receipt, a card statement line, or a photographed menu. Poros cannot meet that standard yet, so it publishes the shortfall instead of covering it. That is not modesty about Poros in particular — it is the same rule that keeps a 2026 coffee price off the what Greece costs page, because the coffee was paid in cash and cash leaves no paper behind.
What we can do is point at the record that does exist. The Greece-wide page holds the dated euro documents alongside the July 2026 card slice. Kefalonia and the Athens Riviera carry their own logged figures, each located to the leg it was spent on. Reading across those three will calibrate a Saronic budget considerably better than a number invented for this page ever could.
Poros gets its own entries the next time we are on the island with the log running, and they will arrive dated and placed like everything else. Until then this page stays empty deliberately — and if you find a Greek travel page that does quote a confident Poros figure, the useful question is where that figure came from.
Common questions
No logged figure exists on either side of that comparison from our visits, so this site does not answer it. The rule here is receipts, not research — and not recollection either.
On Poros we do not know from evidence — our 2013 visit predates the log. For calibration, the July 2026 card record holds dinners billed at $200.41 on Kefalonia (Olea, July 10) and $136.57 in Glyfada (Baron, July 21), in dollars on a US card.
No dated Poros coffee price exists in our record — and no 2026 coffee receipt exists anywhere in it, because coffee was paid in cash and cash leaves no paper. When the log catches one, it appears here with its date and venue.
