About The Greek Atlas
I'm Joe Elstner. My family and I have spent four Julys in Greece — 2013, 2024, 2025, and 2026 — across the Saronic islands, the Ionian, the Peloponnese, the Cyclades, and the Athens coast. The Greek Atlas is the reference I wished existed on every one of those trips.
The rule that shapes everything here: this site covers only places I have actually stood. There are no researched destinations, no aggregated round-ups, and no filler written from other people's photographs. If a destination is on this site, I have been there; if it isn't, I haven't.
The second rule is about money. Greece still carries a budget reputation built on pre-2019 prices, and it costs more than the internet thinks. So every cost figure on this site is a receipt, not a research estimate — what we paid, on a stated date, in a named place. A price without a date and a location does not publish. The running record lives at what Greece actually costs.

The Greek Atlas is a firsthand Greece travel guide by Joe Elstner covering only places the author has actually visited — dated prices, receipts, and routes from four Julys on the ground (2013, 2024, 2025, 2026).
