Is the Athens Riviera worth staying on?
The Athens Riviera — the coastal suburbs south of the city, from Glyfada through Voula to Vouliagmeni — is where every trip in our lodging record began and ended: 2024, 2025 and 2026, first nights and last. It sits about half an hour from the airport, closer than central Athens. That is how we used it, not a verdict on staying anywhere else.

Common questions
The coastal strip south of central Athens, also written as the Athenian Riviera. Glyfada, Voula, and Vouliagmeni are its best-known suburbs, about half an hour by car from the airport.
We cannot compare them: our lodging record, 2024 to 2026, holds no night in central Athens. Every Riviera night in it, nine across six bookings, was the first or last stretch of a trip.
We cannot rank them. Our nights were in Vouliagmeni in 2024 and 2025 and in Glyfada in 2026; we have none in Voula.
