What Kefalonia costs
How expensive is Kefalonia?
Kefalonia in July prices like a destination, not a bargain. The posted menu at NΩAM Beach Club on Antisamos listed cocktails at 11–15€ and desserts at 6–14€ on July 11, 2026, and dinner at Olea billed $200.41 to the card on July 10, 2026. Dollar figures are what a US card was charged — the euro amounts are not in our record, and we do not convert them.
Meal charges billed to a US card during the July 8–13, 2026 Kefalonia stay. Dollar amounts as billed — no euro conversion exists in the record.
The figure that says the most about Kefalonia in July is not one of ours. It is the posted menu at NΩAM Beach Club on Antisamos, photographed on July 11, 2026: cocktails at 11€, 12€, 13€, and 15€, desserts from 6€ to 14€. A menu is the venue's own pricing rather than our spending, which is why it is the one euro figure this page can state exactly.
That distinction matters before you read anything else here. The 2026 euro amounts do not exist anywhere in our record — the card statement kept dollars only, after conversion — so a euro price for a meal we actually ate cannot be recovered from it. Converting backward at today's rate would produce a number that is neither what we handed over nor what the bank charged. So the dollar figures stay dollars, and they are labeled as card billings everywhere they appear.
Dinner ran higher than the island's reputation suggests. Captains Table billed $207.23 on July 9 and Olea $200.41 on July 10 — the latter the one venue on the whole leg we can place independently, from a photographed napkin rather than a statement descriptor. A cheaper end exists too: $74.46 at Karloukas Gerasimos on July 11, the day that took in Antisamos and Melissani.
Beach days carry a cost that most Greece budgets leave out. Costa Costa is a beach roughly an hour and a half by car from Argostoli, and two charges there on July 10 came to $136.65 and $49.35. What those bought is not in our record — a card descriptor names a merchant, not a basket, and we photographed no menu there — so this page gives the amounts, the date, and the kind of place, and stops. The figures are checkable; a story about what they bought would not be.
One charge is deliberately absent. The trip's largest single meal charge fell on July 13, the day we crossed from Kefalonia to the mainland, and a transition-day charge cannot honestly be assigned to either side of the crossing. It sits in the Greece-wide record instead of on this page, because dated is only half of the standard here. Located is the other half, and this one fails it.

We will not claim a comparison we have not logged. Our Cyclades summers predate the price log, so no same-item pair exists yet. The Kefalonia figures above stand on their own; the comparison arrives when a logged Cyclades July exists.
