Panagia Evangelistria, the Orthodox pilgrimage church standing above the harbour. It is why most visitors come, and pilgrims climb the avenue from the port to the church on their knees in fulfilment of a vow — most of all around the August 15 Dormition.
No. We were there on an ordinary evening in mid-July 2024, not at the Dormition, and this page will not describe a scene we did not stand in. What we saw was the carpeted lane they use, running up the steps with nobody on it.
The church, its terrace, and the street immediately below it. We hold no record of the island’s beaches, villages, ferries, or food, so this guide does not describe them. When we go back with the log running, they get their own pages.
