Athens International Airport (ATH)

Athens International sits east of the city. Each July in our lodging record — 2024, 2025 and 2026 — we went from it straight to the coastal suburbs south of the city for the first night, rather than into central Athens: Vouliagmeni the first two years, Glyfada the third. By car that coast is about half an hour away, closer than the city center is, and it is why this page carries no city transfer time of our own.

In July 2026 the overnight flight from the US was scheduled to land at 11:00 on July 6, and the hotel's check-in time was 3:00 in the afternoon. What we did with the hours between is not in the record. We came through passport control with the EU's Entry/Exit System running — it has taken fingerprints and a photograph on a traveler's first entry since April 10, 2026 — and did not time the queue.

We used ATH twice more that July. On July 13 we landed from Kefalonia, scheduled 14:25 to 15:30, and picked up a Sixt rental at the airport for the mainland; on July 22 we returned it there before the 11:15 flight home. Neither the collection nor the return left a timing in the record, and driving in Greece has the rest of that rental.

The domestic flights out of ATH in our record are two: to Naxos on July 15, 2025, scheduled 11:30 to 12:15, and to Kefalonia on July 8, 2026, scheduled 12:50 to 13:55. Both are scheduled blocks on our bookings, not measured flight times.
