How do you get to Poros?
Ferries leave Piraeus for Poros through the day: fast catamarans are timetabled at about an hour, conventional ferries at about two and a half. There is no airport. We went on a fast boat in July 2013.

We had no car on Poros, and never wanted one. The town sits in a narrow channel directly opposite Galatas on the Peloponnese mainland, and we crossed to Galatas on the local boat — a short hop that makes the mainland the other side of the water rather than a journey. On the island, the town did the work on foot: the waterfront, the shops and the climb to the clock tower sit close together. That describes a stay of between three and five nights in July 2013 — the exact count is not in the record — and the island as it was then. Nothing on this page has been checked since.
