We landed from Athens on July 15, 2025, and our photographs of the island are from the 16th and the 17th — so we were there at least three days and can account in detail for two of them. In those we reached four separate parts of the island: the town, two stretches of the west coast, and the mountain interior. That was enough to establish that Naxos is varied and nowhere near enough to know it.

That is a smaller point than it sounds and a real one. It would be easy to write "we spent three days on Naxos" and nobody would check. What we can actually show is a ticket with a date on it and a set of photographs with dates on them, and the honest sentence is the one that stops where those stop.
In the days we can account for we reached four separate parts of the island: the town and the Portara at sunset, the beaches at Agios Prokopios and Agia Anna, Plaka further down the same shore, and an evening high on the slopes inland. Those are not a curated itinerary — they are simply where the photographs are, and their locations are recorded in the files themselves.
What that established is that Naxos is unusually varied for a Cycladic island. The west coast is long, shallow and sandy in a way that does not match the cliff-and-caldera image most people arrive with, and the interior climbs high enough that you spend the evening looking down at the sea you swam in that morning. Both halves are genuinely different places.
What it did not establish is the island. We drove up into the mountain villages for a single evening and could see plainly that we were passing through something we had not seen — and we are not going to build you a four-day itinerary out of a road we drove once at dusk.
The honest signal is that we left knowing we had underdone it. That is more useful than a confident number would be.
